Join Illustration Institute and Friends of the Peaks Island Library THURSDAY SEPT 28th at 7-8pm at the FIFTH ME on Peaks Island for a sneak peek into Brenda's new novel! Get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into her writing process and as always, enjoy an engaging conversation in an inspiring setting. FREE and open to all.

Coming from Portland? Jump on the 5:35 ferry, from landing on Peaks, take a right onto Island Ave, right on Whitehead, left onto Seashore to Fifth Maine Regiment Museum on your right. A ten minute stroll! Plenty of time to return on the 8:45 ferry to Portland!

Joohee Yoon - Layer Upon Lovely Layer.. The Art of Freelance Illustration

Illustration Institute and MECA present an evening with Joohee Yoon. Joohee, a notable children's book illustrator and printmaker, will talk about her path to illustration, show a variety of projects (editorial, advertising, books, gallery, and traditional printmaking) and share her process. Her most recent book, The Tiger Who Would Be King, will be available.

Scott Nash: Tip-top Drawing Tricks

A free drawing workshop for kids ages 7-12 with children's book illustrator and author Scott Nash. Scott will demonstrate tips and tricks of his trade, encouraging young artists to explore and embrace drawing without frustration! Be ready to laugh and draw with playful abandon. Scott will also discuss how he develops characters, many of his relate directly to silly stories from his childhood and he will inspire kids to create their own.
