Join award-winning children’s book illustrator R. Gregory Christie for a two-hour book binding workshop.
Gregory’s illustrations have been featured on HBO Kids, PBS children’s show “Between the Lions,” New York City’s subway cars, the 2013 Congo Square New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival poster and the 2013 United States Post Office “Kwanzaa Forever” stamp.
He loves to teach bookmaking that incorporates materials often found for free. Participants will learn a bit about the history of bookbinding, get an overview of bookmaker’s tools and learn a few techniques to make simple books and pamphlets. Gregory owns a picture book store/gallery in Atlanta, GA where he teaches frequent workshops to all ages. All abilities welcome, youth and educators too.
The Fifth Maine is a lovely historic destination, please make time to tour their exhibit too!

From Ferry dock, walk up first short hill, take first immediate right on Island Ave (Inn on Peaks will be across from you) follow Island Ave, (turns into New Island Ave), take second right onto Whitehead. Follow Whitehead downhill facing water, you will pass a white house on right called “West o’ the Moon”. At bottom of hill bear left to continue on Seashore Ave. to Fifth Maine Regiment Museum, on water, large yellow building with turret & wrap around porch.
