McCloskey Exhibition

We are thrilled to once again collaborate with the Curtis Memorial Library to bring you an exhibit of Robert McCloskey’s original illustrations from these four beloved, Maine-based children’s picture books: Blueberries for Sal, Time of Wonder, One Morning in Maine & Burt Dow, Deep-Water Man and rarely seen sketches from the Boston-based favorite Make Way for Ducklings.  

The Exhibit is now open through October, 2023.

To the world, Robert McCloskey is the creator of some of the most beloved children’s books ever published. But, for many illustrators, McCloskey’s life journey represents what a noble path for artists might be. This exhibit explores McCloskey's work with an eye towards his pursuit of possibility and interests with an openness to wonder. His dedication to craft and way of living in the world produced a legacy of enduring children’s books that inspire generations to this day.  

Curtis Library  hours are: 

Monday – Thursday 9:30am – 8:00pm

Friday 9:30am – 6:00pm

Saturday 9:30am – 5:00pm

Closed July 4th

Closed Sundays between Memorial Day and Labor Day
