Born & raised in Brooklyn, New York, Alex never fooled anyone into thinking he was an illustrator. After receiving his MFA from Bard College, Alex settled in Portland, Maine. There, he served as Editor of local literary rag, The Cafe Review for 10 years. Not long after, Alex accepted an invitation from the Portland Museum of Art where he served as Trustee for several years. Always an ambassador of Portland, Alex has been involved in several successful local companies: including Maine Standard Biofuels, Portland Lobster Company, El Rayo Taqueria, and Planet Dog which received The Governor’s Award from Governor Baldacci and Small Business of the Year from Portland's City Council. When Alex is not discussing art or promoting Maine, he is chasing his three daughters and one black lab (Salvatore Doggie) around Peaks Island & Cape Elizabeth, Maine.
